Pediatric Care
Caring for children takes patience, compassion and expertise. At St. John Medical Center, our pediatrics staff includes registered nurses, nurse assistants, pediatricians, physical therapists and a child life specialist. We offer individualized, personal care for children suffering from a wide array of diseases and injuries, including cystic fibrosis, severe asthma, pneumonia, trauma and more.
The pediatrics department at St. John is warm and cheerful, designed specifically to put children’s and families’ minds at ease. Parents can room-in with patients on the pediatrics floor or spend time visiting in our fully-stocked playroom. Our child life specialist provides fun diversions to keep kids’ spirits up and educational activities, including pre-surgery hospital tours, to ease children’s anxieties. Pediatric therapy and speech therapy are also available.
In our newly-renovated pediatric intensive care unit, critically ill and injured youngsters receive round-the-clock monitoring and treatment. Pediatric intensivists work with specially-trained pediatric nurses to give patients the best shot at a full recovery.
