
D. Douglas Schram, MD,
Medical Director, Palliative Care Services
Dr. Schram is board certified in internal medicine, nephrology, palliative care and hospice medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1990 and did post graduate training at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, MI and University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX. Dr. Schram worked for Nephrology Associates in Tulsa from 1995 to June 2010, when he joined St. John Hospitalists as an intensive care hospitalist before joining St. John Palliative Care Services in January.
Mary Martin, BSN, RN
Manager, Palliative Care Services
Mary Martin has served as the manager of St. John palliative care services since services began in October 2004. Ms. Martin graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing in 1980. She has over 20 years of ICU experience as both a staff and charge nurse. Since 2002, Ms. Martin has annually coordinated the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) course to both St. John and community nurses. She is a member of the St. John Medical Center moral and medical ethics committee, the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International, a nursing honor society.
Ashlie Casey, BSW, MSW, LCSW
Social Worker
Ashlie Casey, BSW, MSW, LCSW, received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Northeastern State University in 1998, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma in 2000, and completed requirements for a licensed clinical social worker in 2003. She holds professional membership affiliations with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Casey has worked at St. John Medical Center for 12 years as a psychiatric counselor, hospice social worker and bereavement counselor, and has served as the palliative care social worker since 2006. Her palliative care focus is on psychosocial assessment, support and, specifically, counseling patients and families.
Sr. Julie Manternach
Board Certified Chaplain
Sister Julie is a National Association of Catholic Chaplains board certified chaplain who has ministered in the intensive care units at St. John Medical Center for the past fifteen years. She serves on the St. John Moral and Medical Ethics Committee and, as such, is frequently involved as an “Ethics Rapid Response Team” participant. She has been a part of the Palliative Care Team since its inception more than five years ago.
Polly Robinson, PharmD, CGP, FASCP
Clinical Pharmacist
Polly Robinson is as a clinical pharmacist for St. John Medical Center. She received a doctor of pharmacy degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in 2003 and completed a pain management traineeship from the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio in 2006. She is certified by the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy. Ms. Robinson serves as an assistant professor at Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy and adjunct assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Pharmacy. She is a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, Oklahoma Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association.
