OMNI Medical Group to Provide $30 Student Physical Examinations
These areas of examination satisfy testing requirements from area school-related or extra-curricular sports programs which mandate sports physical completion prior to participation.
OMNI medical staff will also work with students and guardians to develop a complete medical history, which includes questions about problems with exertion, school performance, as well as a discussion of age-appropriate safety and wellness concerns.
“A sports physical provides an opportunity to assess an athlete’s health for issues that might place the individual at risk for high-impact sports,” said Dr. Robert Gray, OMNI Medical Group medical director. “A physical examination may reveal up to 75 percent of potential problems affecting the participant’s athletic participation, while mitigating potential injury or illness.”
Gray also emphasized the value of the sports physical in helping student athletes to develop a high-trust relationship between the individual and his or her physician or medical caregiver.
“As a part of the physical exam process, we work with the individuals to reinforce healthy behaviors and effectively discouraging unhealthy behaviors,” said Gray.

Playing sports is a great way for students to stay fit, but first, you need to know if your child is fit enough to participate. OMNI Medical Group will provide sports physical exams for area athletes throughout July and August at select OMNI physician offices.
The exams, which cost $30, will cover a focused history and physical exam which helps to ensure safety in sports participation. Areas examined include:
- Overall health, including assessment of the heart and cardiovascular system
- Current fitness level
- Assessment of existing injuries
- Assessment of condition(s) that might increase risk of injury
- Level of physical maturity
